Cut and Run has a positivity and clarity in it that for me, resolves a great deal of the questions I asked myself on the last two albums. Says Spiegel, “the last three years I’ve written one album while touring the previous so it’s a natural progression that each group of songs is a response to the last. The new album, along with This Time Tomorrow (2017) and last year’s Backroads concludes a trilogy of albums and represents the fruits of an intensely creative time for the Melbourne-based bluesman. From the fiery boogie opener ‘Any Second Now’, through to the dark acoustic closing of ‘Old Wounds’, Cut and Run takes the listener on a trip from honest acoustic ballads to searing Blues Rock and captures Spiegel at his best as a vocalist and guitarist while providing some of his best lyrical work to date. Check out the post as well as the Tru tracklist below.LLOYD SPIEGEL Releases New Album ‘Cut and Run’ Upon sharing the Tru artwork on Instagram, Lloyd wrote a lengthy statement on the meaning of the nude photo as well as his goals for the EP. The release will contain three brand new tracks, including "Heavenly Body," featuring Rick Ross, the lone guest on Tru. The excellent 2 Chainz-featuring remix of "Tru," released earlier this month, will appear as a bonus track on the EP. Lloyd recently shared the Tru tracklist as well as the EP's cover artwork, which shows him sitting naked on a rock situated in the path of a gentle waterfall. It turns out that "Tru" will be the titular track off his comeback project, a 5-track EP that is set to arrive on Dec. His renewed spirit was deeply moving, and "Tru" was about as impressive a return as one could have imagined. The song shed some light on all of the pain behind his hiatus and introduced a new artist who is set on using his longtime craft as a means to find his place in the world.
